Tina's Dumpling House is located on the main shopping street in Altona. This is a good example of a suburban Chinese restaurant and is one of the better examples going around.
Tina's Dumpling House specialty dish are dumplings and I always suggest getting them pan-fried. If you don't mind the pan-fried dumplings go very well with Chinese vinegar. If you've never tried I suggest you give them a go.
Tina's Dumpling House is a cosy restaurant. It's clean and bright inside. It's not really distinctive in any way but stands out in its tidiness. When I said cosy I meant it and seating around the tables can be a bit tight.
Tina's Dumpling House has very good quality for a suburban Chinese restaurant. Sometimes Chinese restaurants in the suburbs can be average in so many ways. While this is not finedining and few Chinese restaurants are this is what I would call a good quality restaurant.
We have been to Tina's Dumpling House many times. It fulfils its mandate as a Chinese restaurant with above standard environment, good customer service and good quality food.
I would suggest trying the deep fried whole fish in sweet sauce at Tina's Dumpling House. This is a classic dish and a real crowd pleaser if you enjoy crispy, fried and sweet. It's a great combination and isn't at every Chinese restaurant so feels a bit different. If you love sweet and sour pork that is a good comparison.

The words a hidden gem seem a bit of a cliché however I'd walked past Pier 71 multiple times thinking it looked average. Anyway, when we finally visited we had a great surprise to find something a bit special.

Quality Chinese in the suburbs. Often times Chinese restaurants out of the CBD can be a bit average. We are happy to report that Tina's Dumplings bucks this trend and is pretty good and worthy of repeat visits. We like it!

It's a café serving excellent Japanese food a cut above the average and well above many in Melbourne CBD. It's small and pretty basic on the inside but the food is superb.

The Birdcage Altona Cafe is a winner. One of the best cafes going in the West. Fantastic food that also looks divine! Well worth the effort driving here if you are looking for a new café to try.

It's a chain store but that doesn't mean it can't be great. Yes, we love the vibes, the vibrant colours, fun and the food. Plus it's pretty good value as well.
