Major Tom's Bar in Kyneton, Victoria, is a charming and laid-back venue that perfectly blends the town's country vibe with a touch of retro cool. Known for its cozy, vintage interior and welcoming atmosphere, this bar has become a local favorite.
This is as close to Indie as you will find in Kyneton so if this is your kind of thing give them a go and help support their business.
The eclectic decor, complete with old vinyl records and quirky furnishings, sets a relaxed mood ideal for casual drinks or an evening out with friends.
Service at Major Tom’s is consistently friendly and laid-back, contributing to the overall inviting feel of the place. Whether you’re a Kyneton local or just passing through, Major Tom’s Bar is well worth a visit for a memorable night out in this vibrant town.
Garden Bar: Although Major Tom's is quite a cosy bar it does extend out the back with it's garden bar. Of course Victoria isn't exactly the hottest place going except for some extreme summer days but when the weather obliges the garden bar is quite a cool place to be.
Indie Vibes: Major Tom has that classic record bar, retro cool pub feel. Some might associate this with dingy but that is far from the case. Major Tom's is just a coolish place and for a place the size of Kyneton it is great that a venue and bar of this type exists.
We have never manages to be here on a Saturday or Friday night but I can imagine the place would be pumping and we do like a great pub.
In this day and age where things can get a bit sterile Major Tom's is a major plus! Get it!
Accessibility: Being located on the trendy Piper Street you can't really miss Major Tom's. It's right across from the very very popular Little Swallow Cafe so if you like to support a business that is a bit more ecletic we do recommend trying Major Tom's.
Foodies: Major Tom's specialises in burgers so if this is your kind of food then you'll be right at home. There is a huge range of burgers with cool and quite ecletic names such as "Hungry Hombre", "Macedon Rambler", "Major Tom's", "La Di Da Loumi", "Verduras Baby" and more.
A bit of originality goes a long way and we like this kind of attention to detail and distinctiveness that adds to Major Tom's character.
More vinyl: If you love your music and especially vinyl then why not head to Long Story Short while you are here. Stocking books, clothes, shoes, vinyl records, magazines, posters and more!
Location
Major Tom's is an approximately 2 minute drive from Kyneton Town Centre and located on the now famous Piper Street.
In A Nutshell
In conclusion, Major Tom's is a great bar and burger venue. If you love something a bit eceltic, indie, retro, rock or with an underground feel then Major Tom's could be right up your alley.
We personally love indie so while Major Tom's is probably more into old school rock it still has our seal of approval!
