Stepping into the Mill Market in Daylesford is like embarking on a treasure hunt through time. This expansive marketplace, housed in a character-filled building, boasts a vast and eclectic array of antiques, vintage items, collectibles, and artisanal crafts.
The Mill Market is a must visit for us. We love going here every time we visit Daylesford and virtually very time manage to pick up something we didn't know we needed!
The Mill Market in Daylesford is very huge and is significantly larger than most markets you will come across. This has a number of benefits. One is that even thought this place is very busy it doesn't feel over-crowded in any way (at least until you get to the counter to pay for the goods you want).
I love vinyl and always check out Mill Market on the off chance I'll find something. Sadly the times of vinyl bargains are long gone but you never know what you may find.
The Mill Market has retro and vintage clothes that is frequently changing. If you are lucky you might find something unique that you've been searching for. If not, it's still nice having a look see and rummaging about. That's part of the charm of a place like Mill Market. You never know what you are gonna find.
I have to admit there is always lots of cool stuff. As to the practicality and usefulness of some of it is probably debateable. However us humans aren't necessarily the most rational of creatures.
If you are into toys, comics and related paraphernalia from your youth then the Mill Market has quite the selection. Of course stock will always be changing but you'll never know if you don't have a look. No guarantees but there could be anything from Thomas the Tank Engine, DC, Marvel, Japanese anime characters, Astro Boy, teenage mutant ninja turtles, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars and more. It's pot luck as to if anything is a bargain or collectible but those who are really into it will know what they're looking for. For the rest of us it's just a chance to re-live our youth.
A recent addition at least since our last visit is the sale of plants. A bit of a surprise but it might be great for the green thumbs out there.
Cafe
The Amazing Mill Market also has an onsite cafe. We didn't go this time and since the cafe is run by different proprietors now we are not providing any comment. However, if you are running out of fuel after all of your shopping it could be a great option.
Selfie Time
The Amazing Mill Market in it's own right is one of the biggest and best markets going around. As a bonus they have made the effort to make the Market stand out from the crowd and offer I guess what you could call a few props to take a few selfies while you are here.
This is particularly great if this is a one-off or very infrequent visit to Daylesford. It might keeps your kids entertained for a few minutes as well. Yeah, kids go crazy and move onto the next thing quick!
Anyway, we can always dream we are in Paris while we are here! There are worse things in life.
