The Stables

The Stables - Malmsbury

The Stables is a Mediterranean restaurant & Pizzeria located across the street from the Botanic Gardens. The Stables offers both indoor and al fresco meals.

The Stables is quite an attractive restaurant and one of the big two eatieries in Malmsbury. The other being the Malmsbury Hotel Motel Pub. The Stables probably loses out on some customers being on the side street but probably is the more attractive of the two eateries.

The Stables is kind of themed and I guess based on stables that would house cattle such as horses or cows although obviously a lot classier than that for us humans!

Having a Mediterranean restaurant in a place like Malmsbury is kinda nice and to boot actually has a lot of Greek food as opposed to Italian that adds to its point of difference and something slightly different.

We like the attention to detail and trying to make The Stables stand out from the crowd. This is definitely a pleasant surprise for such a small town and you can feel the effort put into the place. It's slightly generic but overall we like its character.

The Stables is nice and clean, perhaps even a bit bare looking. I guess the stables theme is more on the left side of the restaurant while on the right is the pizzsa oven side which I guess you could describe as more Mediterranean.

The huge bay windows are nice to view the Botanic Gardens across the road and make quite a grand impression. Always nice to have a glass of wine while you are here as well.

True to its Mediterranean theme they offer entrees such as marinated Kalamata olives, 3 dips home-made Tzatziki, Tarama and Eggplant with Pita bread, mezze board, Saganaki wood fired oven baked Kefalograviera, spanakopita and more.

There is also a selection of pasta from Fettuccini Marinara, Creamy Mushroom Fettuccini and Spaghetti Bolognese. While they offered other mains such as Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Mussels Meuniere, Moussaka and Stuffed Peppers.

The customer service the day we were there was exemplarary.

As for pizza the menu is very extensive. Capricciosa, Chicken, Funghi, Greek Lamb, Margherita, Napolitana, Marinara, New Yorker, Pepperoni and more.

We had the Stuffed Peppers and the seafood marinara. Maybe its the intent of The Stables but they were a little under seasoned but still we prefer being able to add extra seasoning later rather than food being too salty.

We do get the feeling though that maybe The Stables pizza's might be the better way to go.

Location

From Malmsbury Town Centre: The Stables is an approximate 1 minute drive from Malmsbury Town Centre located at 15 Ellesmere Pl, Malmsbury VIC 3446.

In A Nutshell

The Stables is a Mediterranean restaurant & Pizzeria located across the street from the Botanic Gardens. It is an attractive venue with some unique design touches and fantastic customer service.

Having only been here once we probably recommend trying the pizza menu but your mileage may vary.
