Discover the breathtaking beauty and delicate balance of our oceans at the Ocean Photographer of the Year exhibition at Seaworks in Williamstown until 13 July 2025.

Showcasing 118 stunning images, this exhibition highlights the artistry and vision of talented photographers from across the globe.

The exhibition is on the first level at Seaworks so is very easily located. The photography is showcased against charcoal backgrounds elegantly showing off natures beauty and the hard work of the photographers.

Photographs are both colour and black and white and also include technical details on exposure, camera and lenses used by the photographer. For enthusiasts it is interesting to note the high incidence of mirrorless cameras and also that even with full frame cameras image quality is limited in under water photography.

The photography is quite varied with environmental themes covered as well as pure beauty and drama that scale and darkness provide in underwater photography and the vastness of the oceans.

With over 100 images to view you are guaranteed to find a few personal favourites.

Fees
Fees apply and please note the seemingly exhorbitant booking fee of 9% that is added to the initial ticket price.
- Adult: $20 plus $1.80 booking fee
- Concession: $15 plus $1.35 booking fee
- Child (4-15): $12 plus $1.08 booking fee
Note: It is impossible to avoid the booking fee as the venue does not accept cash. This means the $20 price for an adult is impossible to achieve. Rocking up and expecting to pay $40 for two adults and finding it has suddenly escalated to $43.60 is not a pleasant experience. At least you are forewarned unlike myself.

Location
Seaworks: is located at 82 Nelson Pl, Williamstown VIC 3016.
In A Nutshell
The photography is generally fantastic, the environmental aspect is thought-provoking without being too heavy handed and the exhibition is really well laid out. The video is also really good to watch.
Enjoy some breathtaking photography, the drama and vastness of the oceans all without having to drive into the city!
I just wish the 9% booking fee could somehow be reduced even if they went to an alternative provider. It just seems a bit steep especially when they do not permit paying in cash.
Williamstown Restaurant and Cafe Reviews

Sebastian
Sebastian is a Basque inspired restaurant offering a wide range of pintxos, small and larger plate dishes aiming for a generally higher end customer. It's great that such a unique and different type of restaurant is willing to open up in Williamstown. Maybe I'm not the target audience but it seems a bit too expensive for the quality. Still we recommend trying at least once if you live locally and if you live further afield read plenty of reviews and decide for yourself if you think it's your cup of tea.

The Strand
The Strand is a nice attractive looking restaurant offering a finedining experience. It has a particular emphasis on seafood fitting for the Williamstown location. I would say the Strand offers an outstanding menu to select from. The Strand is a pretty restaurant and the food is generally good but does vary in consistency. For most up to date recommendations I suggest checking as many recent reviews as possible and then deciding if The Strand is for you.

The Greenery is a great fusion Asian Vietnamese cafe that also has an extensive western menu as well as a great selection of cakes and desserts. With typically great coffee thrown in as well as an extensive alcoholic menu they have got you covered for your drinks. With it's nice Vietnamese and French themed decor The Greenery makes a positive impression.

Tick Tok Café
Tick Tok may not appear to be the most trendy cafe going around. However a charming environment, a busy atmosphere giving the place a positive vibe, a family atmosphere and great food quality and customer service make Tick Tok an easy cafe to recommend.

Monzarella Italian Restaurant
Monzarella Italian Restaurant is one of longer lasting restaurants in Williamstown. This is a testament to Monzarella Italian Restaurant delivering on their promise of good honest food and a providing a nice dining experience. While Monzarella Italian Restaurant isn't really special in any particular way I think it's value proposition has helped it stand the test of time. Great for locals, regular visitors to Willaimstown and value hunters. If you are looking for a very special experience then Monzarella Italian Restaurant may not be for you but for others it may be a perfect match.

Capiz Bistro is probably best for the inquisitive diner who has never tried Filipino food before and cake and dessert lovers. For others just check the menu and see if it takes your fancy. Capiz Bistro is a nice attractive small bistro and it's definitely quite pleasant sitting in the front looking out onto the Williamstown High Street.
