The Currawong Falls are waterfalls are located close to Aireys Inlet with the walk taking approximately 4 hours and being 12km in length. Aireys Inlet is about 1 Hr 50 minutes from Melbourne CBD and on the Great Ocean Road drive on the way to Lorne.
The Currawong Falls is definitely way of the prettier waterfalls in Victoria. I get the feeling that Currawong Falls is often overlooked by holidaymakers staying in Lorne as they go to all the common waterfalls in Lorne. This is a pity as they are really missing out.
The Currawong Falls walk contains some steep rocky sections so keep this in mind before venturing here. While this is a warning I wouldn't regard the walk as difficult for people of moderate or okay fitness. Really only those with very poor knees should be discouraged from doing this walk.
The Currawong Falls walk is well signposted and you are unlikely to get lost. Aireys Inlet is also a relatively busy spot so you are likely to come across many other bushwalkers on this walk. You are well sheltered from direct sunlight for most of this walk so it's a great walk to do if you want to keep out of the sun.
I regard the Currawong Falls as a must see visit if you are a Victorian. You are rewarded with one of the prettiest waterfalls near Melbourne some great lush bush to walk in plus you are right beside the Great Ocean Road. Really though, I think the Currawong Falls make a great photo and that is reason enough to visit this waterfall.
