Nestled just a short drive from the heart of Daylesford, Victoria, the Daylesford Cider Company stands as a beacon for cider enthusiasts and culinary adventurers alike. This award-winning cidery, celebrated for its commitment to traditional cider-making techniques, has firmly established itself as a must-visit destination in the region.
Utilizing 100% fresh apple juice from their own orchards, Daylesford Cider Company prides itself on a product that is both authentic and free from additional sugars, a testament to their dedication to quality and the craft of cider making.
Their dedication to quality was recognized in early 2022 when they were awarded "Best traditional cider" at the National Australian Cider Awards.
The Daylesford Cider Company offers an array of ciders that cater to a wide range of palates, from the sweet familiarities to the intriguing dry varieties that echo the finesse of sparkling wines. The popular tasting paddle, a feature that allows visitors to sample seven distinct ciders, is an excellent way to explore the depth and breadth of flavors crafted by the cidery.
The tasting paddles are a great way to taste a variety of different flavoured ciders that isn't usually available to your average punter. This experience not only highlights the versatility of cider but also serves as an educational journey through the nuances of cider production. It's also fun to taste and compare and decide on your favourites.
The Daylesford Cider Company also provide you with some explanation and tasting notes on all the ciders you are trying. This is perfect to better understand and appreciate the subtleties of all the different ciders you are tasting.
Not to be left out the Daylesford Cider Company has expanded its offerings to include non-alcoholic cocktails and have developed a range called 'Era'. This line is a creative endeavor by the team behind Daylesford Cider, aiming to provide alcohol-free alternatives without compromising on flavor, innovation, or quality.
While personally not a favourite it's great to see that the non-alcolohic crowd are being catered for and I am sure it is appreciated by this select segment of drinkers.
Beyond the cider, the on-site restaurant enhances the visit with a menu that complements the beverages perfectly. Available from Friday through Monday, the restaurant serves a selection of sharing plates, wood-fired pizzas, and fresh salads. This culinary offering, combined with the idyllic setting, makes for an unforgettable dining experience. Most Sundays are further enriched with live music, adding a vibrant layer to the already warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Daylesford Cider has lovely surroundings to enjoy your meals and drinks. There are two main indoor dining areas with one more like a typical restaurant and the other like a huge barn or tentlike structure perfect for enjoying the musical acts.
The huge barn structure makes for a nice casual dining environment and is probably great for a big party of friends and those with children with the more traditional area probably good if you like things a bit more quiet.
The outdoor areas are lovely as well and the Daylesford Cider Company obviously know their weather well so there are plenty of umbrellas to keep the sun at bay while you enjoy your cider and accompanying meals.
Daylesford Cider is a picturesque setting which makes enjoying your cider even better.
