Sailors Falls is a waterfall you pass on the way to Daylesford. Usually unspectacular try and come here when there has been lots of rain to get a much grander spectacle.
If you are a frequent visitor to Daylesford you are definitely tempted to drive right past the Sailors Falls vistor carpark and I wouldn't blame you. As a semi frequent visitor myself the Sailors Falls can definitely seem underwhelming. It's all to do with the timing. If it hasn't been raining then Sailors Falls is pretty average to poor as a visual spectacle. If it's been raining then it is a lot more impressive.
At the Sailors Falls carpark you will find undercover picnic tables and an excellent information displays. Sailors Falls is very easily accessible. It is a simple walk from the Sailors Falls carpark to a viewing platform. You can also access the opposite side of the waterfall and even complete an extensive walk from Sailors Falls to Daylesford Lake.
At Sailors Falls you can go down to the base of the falls although obviously if you do so it will involve a few minutes walk to descend the stairs to reach the lower lookout, and then continuing further to cross the creek and approach the base of the falls. I would recommend going to the base of the falls to get another perspective and viewpoint of the falls. It's not too challenging and doesn't take up a lot of time so why not?
The Sailors Falls isn't one of my favourite waterfalls but for others they seem to really enjoy it even if it's not really flowing. If you can appreciate the cliff face the falls flow down on even when its running dry you'll probably get more enjoyment out of the falls. Definitely recommend coming here when there has been more rain all the same.
