The Lee Medlyn Home of Bottles Collection consists of over six thousand old and historical bottles and many related objects.

The collection is housed in the decommissioned South Clunes State School which just happens to be quite a beautiful building in itys own right.

Eccentricity and charm: Lee Medlyn Home of Bottles gets our tick of approval for eccentricity and effort. Who would have thought bottles could be so much fun.

Ginger Beer: While Cascade Breweries is more well known for its regular beer these days once upon a time ginger beer was very popular. When you come here it dawns on you that while relatively out of favour these days ginger beer was once a go to beverage.

Subterranean Homesick Blues: When walking around the town of Clunes you have absolutely no idea that metres below are several gold mining tunnels. This image is so cool demonstrating just how removed we can be from the reality below us. It's just really really interesting.

Interesting Fact: Clunes proclaims itself as Victoria's first gold town. We like when travelling around finding new and interesting facts. Probably factual but it is amazing how little towns claim all these fworld firsts!!

Made in Clunes: It's semi-sad in this mass produced world we live in that many local industries are no more. A cough mixture manufactured and produced in Clunes is testament to the entrepreneurial spirit at the time. We definitely have lost something in the 21st century.

Back to School: As mentioned earlier the Home of Bottle is housed in the decommissioned South Clunes State School. We love how they keep their sense of humour and have retained a classroom as well as a historically accurate whip. Now those were the days when teachers actually had some authority.

Re-created street: While proclaimed as the Home of Bottles we like how they have re-created old-school street-scapes so you can be transported back in time. Once thing surprising about this museum is just how large it is. Doctor Who's tardis comes to mind as this museum really is quite extensive.

Curios: Concoctions of the past make for interesting viewing. Possibly a bit of rocket fuel it would be nice if the original recipes were still around to experience them today. It's nice to see the variety on offer even back in the day.
