The La Gerche Forest Walk in Creswick is a 2km walk taking approximately 1 hour. This is a nice relatively easy walk. Predominantly under a forest canopy of native and introduced varieties. It still contains pockets where you are not completely protected from the sun. It has a few mild ups and downs but is generally an easy walk.
The La Gerche Forest Walk in Creswick is well signposted and includes details throughout the entire walk of the history of the area and the work of La Gerche to re-forest the area. While some people would prefer all native bushland this walk is intriguing because of its history and the pioneering work of La Gerche to restore the area albeit with introduced tree varieties.
The La Gerche Forest Walk in Creswick at 2km in length is a family friendly distance but does contain small ups and downs and tree roots on the forest floor. However in general terms this can be regarded as an easy walk. As a forest walk this is also a good walk to do on sunny days to keep out of the sun or if you are a sun averse bushwalker.
The La Gerche section of the walk contains many trees and many inclines and declines. While nothing extremely challenging it's worth noting that this section is a bit more difficult than St Georges Lake. The trees are quite relaxing and includes many introduced varieties La Gerche planted when regenerating the forest. This area of the track has many signposts outlining the history of the area and the work of La Gerche to restore the forest.
The La Gerche Forest Walk is nicely wooded and is part of the greater Creswick Heritage Walk. It's the perfect walk for those looking for an easy stroll and enjoying a bit of nature without too much physical exertion. It has nice greenery and combined with learning about the history of the area is definitely worth the visit. A bonus is keeping out of the sun most of the time.
The La Gerche Forest Walk is perfect as an easyish 2km walk with pleasant surroundings combined with a bit of a history lesson. Definitely family friendly albeit with some mild ups and downs.
