Creswick Market is a vibrant and community driven event that takes place on the third Saturday of every month. This bustling market features over 90 stalls showcasing a wide variety of locally made goods, from fresh produce and artisanal foods to handmade crafts, clothing, and homewares.

With its strong emphasis on supporting local farmers, creators, and small businesses, the market offers visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy high-quality, sustainable products while connecting with the friendly community.

The Creswick Market is one of the prettiest markets you will come across. If there is a top reason to visit Creswick this market is it.

Best for: Lovely and very pretty atmosphere. Definitely one of the prettiest markets in all of Victoria.

2. Le Gerche Forest Walk:

Le Gerche Forest Walk

The Le Gerche Forest Walk is a great walking track that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. This 2.2km loop takes visitors through part of the Creswick State Forest, once transformed by pioneering forester John La Gerche in the late 1800s.

History and Environmentalism: As you wander along the peaceful paths lined with towering pines and native trees, interpretive signs tell the story of La Gerche's efforts to reforest the area after the devastation caused by gold mining, making the walk not only a scenic experience but also an insightful journey into the history of environmental conservation in Victoria.

This is quite a pretty walk and at only 2.2km is suitable for pretty much everyone. It's nice and protected from the sun so it's also suitable on really hot days.

Best for: A casual, easy and pretty walk and educational too!

3. Creswick Woollen Mills:

Creswick Woollen Mills is a must visit destination for anyone interested in high-quality, locally produced textiles and the rich history of Australian wool production.

Visitors can explore the mill’s interactive and informative displays, which offer insight into the process of transforming raw fleece into beautiful, sustainable products.

A little bit of shopping: From soft blankets and scarves to elegant knitwear, the mill’s retail store showcases a stunning array of items that highlight the craftsmanship, tradition and quality of their products. Don't be surprised to leave here having purchsed something you didn't know you needed!

Surprisingly enjoyable: Creswick Woollen Mills is a genuine surprise in that you probably enter thinking it won't interest you at all and you are only visting because you are a daytripper. I was pleasantly surprised by my visit here and recommend coming here even if you have no apparent interest what so ever in wool and woollen products. It just might surprise you.

Best for: Superior quality in an age of genericness and mass production.

St George’s Lake is a tranquil and scenic destination perfect for nature lovers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts. Surrounded by the lush Creswick State Forest, the lake offers a serene setting for a relaxing 30 minutes to two hours.

Visitors can enjoy various activities such as picnicking, birdwatching, or taking a leisurely walk around the lake's perimeter on well-maintained trails. The picturesque surroundings, with tall trees reflected in the clear waters, make it a popular spot for photography and simply soaking in the beauty of nature.

For those seeking a bit more adventure, St George’s Lake is ideal for fishing and kayaking, providing opportunities to enjoy the water in a peaceful, natural environment. There are also designated areas for barbecues and ample seating, making it a great place to gather with family and friends.

Although pretty small, St George's Lake is surprisingly picturesque. St George's Lake is a definite must stop on a first time visit to Creswick.

Best for: Photos, a leisurely walk, a picnic and kayaking (bring your own kayak).

Their Friday long lunches offer a delightful a la carte menu that changes regularly, showcasing the finest local produce (bookings are essential). Guests can also savor a selection of delectable truffle-infused products from the providore, all while dining in the charming restaurant nestled next to the truffière.

Options galore: Black Cat Truffles has many different offerings including the previously mentioned Friday Long Lunch, Saturday and Sunday brunch, Sunday seafood degustation and evening dining. 6. Creswick Heritage Walk:

The Creswick Heritage Walk is a 8.5km trail around the township and highlights Creswick's historic heritage buildings and forms part of the Goldfields Track. Visitors can pick up a booklet and map from the Visitor Information Centre to guide their journey through the town’s rich history.

This walk is especially good for those who will find the Le Gerche Forest walk and St George's Lake Loop walk far too short. Note: That there is one exposed section to quite a lot of direct sunlight on a very hot day as well as a moderate but notable upwards incline on one section of the walk.

Best for: A bit more extensive walk and lookout point.

Creswick is a captivating destination that offers a blend of history, natural beauty, and local charm. Known for its rich gold mining heritage, the town is home to fascinating historical landmarks and scenic attractions like the Creswick Heritage Walk, St George's Lake, and the picturesque Creswick State Forest.

. Whether you're a history buff, nature lover, or simply seeking a peaceful escape, Creswick provides an ideal setting to experience the best of regional Victoria.

Due to its small size and how fantastic and pretty the Creswick Market is we recommend visiting Creswick on a 3rd Saturday of the month. It also pays to be a person who enjoys scenic walks and nature in general otherwise you may find Creswick a bit boring for you.
