The Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed Altona Classic Car and Bike Show is one of those golden local events that reminds you why community really matters. Held in the heart of Altona, this much loved classic car show brings together beautifully restored vehicles, passionate owners and families who are simply happy to be out and about.
From the moment you arrive, there is a relaxed welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you belong, even if you only wandered in out of curiosity.
As a mum in my mid forties with two kids in tow, I love how approachable and family friendly the event is. The kids will be wide eyed at the shiny chrome, classic cars and vintage bikes, while I found myself chatting easily with car owners who were more than happy to share the stories behind their pride and joy.
There is something very grounding about hearing how long someone has owned a vehicle or how it has been lovingly restored over time.
Live entertainment: Befitting a festival like atmosphere there is live musical entertainment, food, coffee and drinks available. Gather your nearest and dearest, plan a day with friends, and enjoy all the delights this event has in store. If the sun is shining this really is a fantastic event close to home.
What really elevates this event is its purpose. The Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed does incredible work supporting connection, skills sharing and wellbeing in the local community, and this show is a brilliant example of that mission in action. You are not just admiring classic cars, you are supporting a local organisation that quietly makes a big difference, which always makes the experience feel more meaningful.
