The Lost Watering Hole certainly has a modern look. One side of the premises houses the active brewery while the remainder is a restaurant with an outside deck offering nice views of the mountains surrounding Lancefield.

The Lost Watering Hole is kind of themed as I guess a warehouse environment that is sleek, modern and semi trendy. For a place like Lancefield it's great to have a venue like the Lost Watering Hole that is both modern but also kinda cool as well.

One of the standout features of Lost Watering Hole is its impressive selection of regional wines and craft beers. The drink menu showcases the diversity of Victorian wineries and breweries, with options that pair beautifully with the dishes on offer.

Of course the Lost Watering Hole showcases their extensive range of locally brewed beers. Many visitors try a tasting a paddle and alas that will have to be on our next visit. I tried the Swamp Rat dark lager but I was slightly underwhelmed. Anyway, there is plenty to select from and we all have our own tastes.

Main course: The Lost Watering Hole has a contemporary pub based menu that kind of covers everything you could wish for. Of course the menu is subject to change but on offer when we visted were plenty of standard favourites including butter chicken curry, Atlantic salmon, mediterranean lamb, Calamari, Brewhouse pie, beef burger, smoked salmon linguini, tacos and roasted mushrooms for mains.

Small plates: Smaller dishes included pork belly bites that we ordered as an upsized main, beef cheek, sweet chilli prawns, fried tofu, brushetta and fries.

Share plates: Those who enjoy grazing away can try things such as baked camembert, dips, tasting board (that we ordered) or a cheese board. Anyway, the Lost Watering Hole does have an extensive and quite varied selection of food to choose from.

History: The Lost Watering Hole is a replacement brewery to a long gone pub that used to exist in Lancefield. The history goes that it all started in 1888, when Henry Lindsay purchased the old flour mill in Lancefield and transformed it into a brewery.

Lindsay registered the name ‘The Trent Brewery’ and began crafting both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Over the years, the brewery changed ownership multiple times, continuing its operations until early 1898 when it burnt down.

Today the Lost Watering Hole is probably the busiest place in Lancefield. On market day this place seems to have the majority of visitors choosing to have lunch here. In other words this place is pumping and very very popular.

Although we don't like to measure the quality of a place based on price we are happy to say that the Lost Watering Hole has very fair pricing. Everything is relative though so your mileage may vary. Anyway, based on the number of patrons the Lost Watering Hole is the place to be in Lancefield!
