Wombat Forest Wines

Wombat Forest Wines

Tucked away just outside Daylesford, Wombat Forest Vineyard feels like one of those places you discover once and quietly congratulate yourself for finding.

Set among towering gums and rolling bushland, this boutique winery captures everything we love about a Daylesford wine experience. Wombat Forest Wines also happens to be handily located close to Kyneton, Trentham, Malmsbury and Macedon.

What really stands out at Wombat Forest Wines is how closely the wines reflect their natural surroundings. The vineyard sits right on the edge of the Wombat State Forest, and that sense of place carries straight through into the glass. Expect elegant, cool climate wines with real finesse rather than bravado.

For those in the know cool climate wines of the Macedon region typically means an emphasis in Pinot Noir, Grenache and Chardonnay. While previously not really into Pinot Noir I've since figured out its place. It's perfect for those people who love a tiple, love reds and need a summer wine. Pinot noir makes a perfect summer wine for red wine lovers.

Look out for special events and try and time your visit for days when they have live music if that is your kind of thing. Personally I love having some live music so when they have these special days Wombat Forest Wines enters my must visit list!

The cellar door experience is refreshingly personal, which is something I always value when visiting wineries near Daylesford. Tastings feel unhurried and genuine, the kind where conversations naturally wander from vintage conditions to favourite food pairings and even the odd music tangent.

I'm partial to a bit of a yarn and that always makes your visit to a winery compared to bottle shop buying so much more special. Of course enjoying company with your friends, taking in the outdoor surroundings and countryside also make a visit here special.

For those with kids there is a nice outdoor area with giant jenga, a few other outdoor games and nicely manicured grass to enjoy a picnic and relax. We do encourage you to wine and dine off their menu if you can to support their business but I know we all have budgets to manage.
