Bulla Hill Railway

Bulla Hill Railway is open to the general public from 12PM-4PM on the THIRD Sunday of each month. You can ride behind Bulla Hill Railways steam or diesel locomotives on the scenic 1.5km track. The ride takes approximately 10 minutes and during the ride, you will pass over bridges, enjoy scenic views of Mt Macedon and you might even see a dinosaur or three! Altona Miniature Railway is a hobby club run by railway enthusiasts that provide miniature train rides on scaled steam and diesel engines (5" and 7 1/4" gauge), on a 1.5 km length track. Great fun for kids and the young at heart.

There's the Ethiopia festival in Footscray on Saturday and the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival to start off spring!!! As the first weekend of the month there are also plenty of markets on the go as well!

Car Torque (Altona)

If you love classic cars and a local community feel then this monthly event might be right for you.


CAR TORQUE is a regular get together on the FIRST SUNDAY of every Month at the Hobsons Bay Men's Shed, 280 Queen St Altona, gates open 8.30am close 3pm.

Visitors are welcome, especially owners of classic vehicles or motorbikes to display and join in with Car Torque members and have a yarn.


BBQ and egg and bacon rolls, tea, coffee, water and soft drinks available.


Bring the family and the dog, enjoy the day, see some great vehicles. Shed tours are available - just ask politely!

The Altona Homestead provides visitors of all ages the opportunity to take a step back in time. The Altona Homestead is located at at 128 Queen Street, Altona, overlooking Logan Reserve and very close to the Altona foreshore and pier. The homestead is a unique and treasured part of Altona’s heritage.
