Background: Curly Flat, established by Philip Moraghan and Jenni Kolkka in 1991, with Jenni becoming the sole owner in 2017, is renowned for its robust Pinot Noir, Chardonnay that balances precision with richness, and Pinot Gris full of texture and intrigue. This winery has a long-standing status as a top-tier producer, a reputation that has been maintained and even enhanced under the guidance of the current winemaker, Matt Harrop.

Nestled in Victoria's Macedon Ranges, a region known for its cool climate, Curly Flat is celebrated as one of Australia's premier Pinot Noir producers. This area, one of the coolest grape-growing regions on the Australian mainland, is exceptionally well-suited for cultivating Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The distinctiveness of Curly Flat's vineyard site is attributed to a blend of factors: its elevation at 540 metres, its position south of The Great Dividing Range, and its removal from the ocean's tempering effects. Warm summer days transition into crisp, cool evenings, decelerating the ripening process and preserving natural acidity. Such conditions are perfect for the early-ripening varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, contributing to their exceptional quality.

Award Winning Pinot Noir: Curly Flat won the best Australian Pinot Noir at the 2017 Decanter Asia Wine Awards in Hong Kong. To win the best in Australia is a great achievement and lucky for us Victorians who can visit their winery directly.
