Hunter Gatherer Winery, set on the rolling hills of Pipers Creek in Victoria's Macedon Ranges is a beacon for those seeking an immersive wine experience that combines the essence of the region's terroir with expert craftsmanship.

Sparkling Anyone: This boutique winery, known for its commitment to producing small-batch, high-quality wines, stands as a testament to the rich viticultural potential of the area. Specializing in cool-climate varieties, Hunter Gatherer offers a unique emphasis on sparkling wines. Now I am not really a sparkling wine person so it requires me to be more open-minded than usual coming to a place like Hunter Gatherer. Still if you love your bubbly then Hunter Gatherer could well be your perfect winery.

Visitors to Hunter Gatherer Winery are treated to more than just a tasting; they are invited into an experience that educates and delights. The cellar door, set against the backdrop of rolling hills and meticulously tended vines, provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Wine Tasting: Here, knowledgeable staff guide visitors through the nuances of each wine, sharing stories of the winery's history, the winemaking process, and the inspiration behind each vintage. This personalized approach ensures that every visitor, from novice tasters to seasoned connoisseurs, finds something to love and learn about.

Now we were there on a particularly quiet day and it was lovely being able to chat to the co-owner of the vineyard in more detail. Whether you will be able to enjoy such an experience I guess will depened on how busy they are. I do have a preferenece to chatting to one of the owners when we visit wineries but of course this can't always be guaranteed and is less likely the larger the winery. Anyway we were lucky enough to enjoy the company of Roslyn Martin and are thankful for the experience.

The Hunter Gatherer Winery offers panoramic views of the rollings hills of Pipers CReek running behind or in front depending on your point of view. While the wine tasting area isn't the largest there is plenty of space outside to enjoy a wine tasting or something off their grazing menu.

Hunter Gatherer Winery definitely offers the personal touch of a small winery and for that we think it makes a perfect winery to visit and if you love your bubbly you have even more reason to visit.

Time to eat: While we didn't personally eat at Hunter Gatherer as we'd already had lunch this give you an idea on what you can graze on while you do your wine tasting.

In A Nutshell

Hunter Gatherer Winery is a lovely winery to visit just 12 minutes drive out of Kyneton. We had a fantastic experience chatting to the co-owner of the winery and doing the wine-tasting. While sparkling wine definitely isn't my usual cup of tea I still enjoyed the tasting experience and came away with a couple of bottles of the NV Sparkling Cuvee!
