Huu Huu Thanh Vietnamese restaurant located in Footscray Market can be regarded as an institution. Huu Huu Thanh really has stood the test of time and isn't just surviving but is thriving.

If you've ever been to Singapore and the People's Park then Footscray Market and Huu Huu Thanh really remind you of the place and it's a nice reminder of the Singapore hawker markets you'll find there. Come here on a Saturday and Footscray Market and Huu Huu Thanh are really pumping.

If like to be in the thick of things and like being a really vibrant and dynamic environment then visit Huu Huu Thanh and soak up the vibe. Yes, it gets really busy and crowded and you may have to wait to get a table but most of us like to be in on the action.

A great thing about Huu Huu Thanh is that is seems pretty much authentic and doesn't seem to try to pander to a non-Vietnamese customer. A look at the meno offering on the wall (see below) is a good indicator of the food you'll find here.

If you are not the patient type you are recommended to dine here early morning or after 1PM. People in the know come here in extreme abundance and getting a table during peak period is not easy. Last time we timed out and gave up and came here a week later instead.

Yes, it's a testament to how good Huu Huu Thanh is that we came back a week later.

Huu Huu Thanh is a hawker type of restaurant. By that we mean authentic dishes served with love, authentic flavours, a down to earth restaurant experience and competitive prices.

However, it really is all about the food and that is a primary reason to dine at Huu Huu Thanh. The food here is some of the best Vietnamese going in Footscray and this is a highly competitive market with Vietnamese restaurants literally everywhere.

Despite all the competition we would happily come here again and again. If you want a more upmarket feel then Huu Huu Thanh may not be for you but for everyone else who loves Vietnamese food then Huu Huu Thanh comes as highly recommended.

Location
Huu Huu Thanh: is located at 18 Irving St, Footscray VIC 3011 in Footscray Market opposite the large supermarket.
In A Nutshell
It goes without saying that we highly recommend Huu Huu Thanh. A full and complete Vietnamese menu, a down to earth yet still decorative restaurant environment, fantastic flavoured food and a pumping vibrant atmosphere.

First Taste
First Taste restaurant is an adequate Cantonese styled restaurant. It's former claim to fame was it's specialty Cantonese soups that maintained an authentic flavour that tasted great. I am hoping they can return to their former glory days again.

It's great to have a Filipino restaurant in Footscray but it just wasn't our cup of tea. Still if you crave some Filipino food this might fill the spot for you.

T. Cavallaro & Sons Pasticceria
T Cavallaro and Sons Pasticceria offers a view to a long gone Italian heritage in the heart of Footscray. Definitely worth a visit to consider buying some Italian coffee equipment or trying the ricotta cannoli from a recipe over 150 years old!

Hong Kong BBQ
The Hong Kong BBQ restaurant has gone from all time favourite to okay. Hong Kong BBQ has drastically reduced its menu to only BBQ'd Chinese food now. So yes you can continue to enjoy your favourite roast duck or roast pork but sadly the reduced menu is a bit of a let down. Still, if you love your roast duck it is perfect as a takeaway treat or you can still eat it there.
