If you are road tripping through country Victoria and want a calm cafe with lots of character then 321 Cafe Learmonth is a sweet reward beside the pretty Lake Learmonth near Ballarat.
The room feels bright and welcoming with timber tables soft light and a gentle country buzz that makes you breathe out and slow down for a moment of weekend joy.
321 Cafe Learmonth is definitely one of the prettier cafes you will find in regional Victoria. The word "lovely" is a bit of a cliche but definitely applies to 321 Cafe Learmonth. You'll come away leaving here thinking this is just such a beautiful cafe.
The espresso program is dialed for smooth balance with a rounded finish that suits milk or black while filter options sing with clean citrus and gentle stone fruit notes.
Brunch covers comforting classics and seasonal plates that lean on local produce think flaky pastries hearty eggs greens that still taste like the garden and cakes that feel home baked.
I particularly liked that 321 Cafe Learmonth has it's own classic yet distinctive character. We loved it having some Australiana and being a Kiwi, even I can appreciate the great Donald Bradman.
Service shines with genuine smiles helpful tips and a little friendly chat that turns a quick stop into a lovely memory that you will talk about on the drive home.
321 Cafe Learmonth also happens to be a great drinking hole and if you have a loving partner to share the driving you could even make an event of it.
There is quite the range of local Australian beer and other alcoholic beverages. Sometimes you just feel like having a chill and when on holiday there is no better time. "Cheap wine and a three day growth" as the great Jimmy Barnes would say although I'm more of a "Badhead" Blur kind of person.
The cafe sits a short stroll from the water so you can grab a take away and wander lakeside or settle in after a gentle loop walk before pointing the car toward wine country.
Families will feel at ease with roomy seating simple kid friendly choices and easy parking while outdoor spots welcome well behaved dogs so our Labrador Tommy gave a happy tail wag and kept some locals entertained.
We were lucky to be visiting during the Ballarat International Foto Biennale so even got to enjoy some arctic themed photographic works.
For a relaxing country pause with quality coffee generous food and kind hospitality 321 Cafe Learmonth is an easy yes for your next Ballarat or Pyrenees day out.
