I am an avid photographer and I always enjoy destinations where art, design and landscape overlap. My Pentax Q concert experience taught me to take a camera when there is a chance of seeing something memorable. At Qdos, the combination of sculpture, architecture and forest creates plenty of visual inspiration, although always respect any photography restrictions inside exhibitions and around individual artworks.
The gallery also represents photography as a fine-art medium. Robert Ashton, for example, works across digital and large-format analogue processes including photogravure and wet-plate collodion. That breadth is part of what makes Qdos interesting: painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking and photography can all sit within the same arts destination.

Is Qdos Arts Worth Visiting?
Yes, especially if you enjoy art, photography, sculpture, gardens or places that feel a little different from the standard Great Ocean Road itinerary. A Ballarat International Foto Biennale trip once expanded into a wider regional adventure for me, and Qdos has the same potential to add an unexpected cultural layer to a Lorne day trip. Combine it with the beach, a lookout or an Otways walk and you get a nicely varied day.
It's also handy having Qdos in your back pocket as a rainy day fallback. I just really love having outdoor sculptures and that alone makes it a must visit for me.
