Korea Town Melbourne at 365 La Trobe Street
Korea Town Melbourne is one of those CBD dining stops that feels made for a lively catch up, a late-night Korean food craving and a bit of city exploring. Set at 365 La Trobe Street near Melbourne’s growing Koreatown pocket around Healeys Lane, it is an easy option when you want Korean restaurant energy without turning dinner into a major expedition.
The Wrap:
Korea Town has great vibes and a super great selection of Korean food that you won't find everywhere. It's pumping so it has great atmosphere. I also like the design that offers private'ish dining spaces if you are lucky enough to get one. I've been multiple times so that says something. You can't book so remember to wear your patience hat if you don't arrive early. Definitely a restaurant to search out if you love Korean - as I do. Probably worth a rating between 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ if you are into that kind of thing. I look forward to my next visit!
Why Visit This Korean Restaurant in Melbourne CBD
This is a handy restaurant to keep on your list for Korean food in Melbourne CBD, especially when you are meeting friends after work, planning a casual family meal or adding a K-food stop to a city wander. Think warm dishes, shared plates, quick photos for the food photography roll and that fun Seoul-inspired mood that makes the evening feel a little more next level.
I love Korean culture, K-Pop and K drama, so a Melbourne CBD restaurant like Korea Town naturally catches my eye. It has the kind of atmosphere where you can start with dinner and end up talking about TWICE, Aespa, New Jeans or which drama has taken over your week. That is exactly the sort of easy, happy dining moment West Melbourne and Beyond loves to find.
Good for Casual Catch Ups
What sets Korea Town apart from lots of other Korean restaurants is its extensive range of Korean food you won't find elsewhere. This just far far greater selection than most and that's great if you feel like something from from your usual - think jokmal, soy raw crab, yukhoe and more. Yes, some deserved browny points for providing such a great range of Korean food.
If you don't manage to score one of the booths or private dining areas at the front, the more open space part of Korea Town feels like a mini Pocha Bar. This means if you have a great group of friends you still get fantastic vibes and as Korea Town is so busy it has a very cool atmosphere.
A Little Discovery Story
One memory comes to mind when I think about Korea Town. On a Tokyo holiday, a planned trip turned into a mini flower tour after a TikTok tip led to azaleas, moss phlox, nemophila and wisteria. The lesson was simple: travel rewards flexibility. A Korea Town dinner can work the same way. Leave a little room in the plan and the night may become more than just a meal. You know, that walk into Healeys Lane can turn into a mega night out.
If you are visiting with kids, friends or visitors from out of town, Korea Town works best as part of an easy CBD itinerary. Keep it relaxed, check current details, arrive hungry and enjoy the comfort of Korean flavours in a central location. For me, that is a beautiful day out without needing to overthink it. Just remember, Healeys Lane is really a night venue. If you visit during the daytime it may feel somewhat underwhelming. Just warning you from my own personal experience.
Make It a Melbourne CBD Mini Adventure
Photographers can also have a bit of fun here. La Trobe Street, nearby laneways and the glow of evening dining signs give you plenty of small details to capture, especially if you like food photography or city snapshots. Bring your phone or your favourite compact camera and enjoy the casual Melbourne street feel.
Overall, Korea Town Melbourne is worth bookmarking when you want Korean food near La Trobe Street, a convenient CBD meeting point and a restaurant that fits nicely around markets, galleries, shops, gardens and city nightlife. Confirm current menus and hours via the official channels, then make it part of your next Melbourne food adventure.
Trivia: Melbourne’s Koreatown area is closely associated with Healeys Lane, which has been informally known for Korean dining and nightlife. In recent years the City of Melbourne has promoted the area as a recognised Koreatown precinct, adding another reason to explore this part of the CBD. My word of warning - this is definitely a night venue and is somewhat underwhelming if you are considering coming here for lunch.

Cost
I think the prices are fair value, so that means not cheap but not expensive either. Restaurant dining costs vary depending on what you order. Check the current menu and prices before visiting, especially if you are planning a group meal. In other words, price is not an obstacle to dining at Korea Town.
