Review: The Naked Egg (Yarraville)

The Naked Egg Cafe in Yarraville

The Naked Egg cafe in Yarraville is located just off the very main shopping street. The shopping area is very small in Yarraville so every cafe in is within close walking distance and The Naked Egg is no exception.

The Naked Egg is a contemporary western food styled cafe. It has a modern feel to the menu and The Naked Egg does try to modernise all the dishes to a contemporary audience.

The Naked Egg is definitely a nice family orientated cafe. It has an openish to it's design and they have set up a nice little play area for the kids including a mini kitchen. The cafe seems to have been set up with kids in mine and this is a real plus point of the cafe.

I am a sucker for the classic New York Reuben sandwich. Although not the best I have experienced in Melbourne The Naked Egg does produce and honest Reuben and is definitely one of the better Reuben's going around. Give it a try if you've never had a Reuben before.

The Naked Egg menu has a nice selection of cakes so if you are a sweet tooth this could be the place for you. They defintely do appear to be better than your average cakes you find in quite a lot of cafes so for an afternoon treat The Naked Egg could be a great place to perk up your energy levels.

I guess the off yellow and orangeish decor of The Naked Egg matches the egg theme. However, it won't be to everyones liking but personally I think it matches the personality of the place and its family friendly feel. Somehow the decor seems kind of old-fashioned and modern at the same type. An interesting mix for sure.

In a nutshell

The Naked Egg is a nice family friendly cafe. Enjoy a great Reuben sandwich, bring the kids along and enjoy some time out your your friends. The standout feature of The Naked Egg cafe is the little kids play area with mini kitchen and other toys. Recommended but not really for hipsters if that is your kind of thing.

Location

The Naked Egg cafe is located at 32A Ballarat Street in Yarraville. Not quite on the main shopping street but only minutes away so definitely very accessible and easy to get to.
